Jon Gudmundson is Director of Jazz Studies and Associate Professor of
Saxophone at Utah State University. He holds degrees from Western Washington
University, Indiana University and the University of Northern Colorado, and
has studied jazz with David Baker, Jerry Coker, and Chuck Israels, and
saxophone with William Wicker, Julia Nolan and Roger Greenberg. Gudmundson
has performed with Donald Harrison, the Harry James Band, David Young, Aaron
Neville, Roberta Flack, Connie Haines, and many others. His performing
credits also include appearances with The National Repertory Orchestra, The
Cheyenne Symphony, The Bloomington (Indiana) Chamber Orchestra, and the
Brevard Chamber Orchestra.
Jon has served as clinician, adjudicator, featured soloist, and lecturer at
conferences and festivals across North America, including World Saxophone
Congresses in Montreal, Minneapolis, and Ljubljana, Slovenia, North American
Saxophone Alliance Regional Conferences, International Association for Jazz
Educators Conferences in Toronto and Chicago, and the UNC/Greeley, Indiana
State University, Bloomington (Indiana), Holyoke (Massachusetts), Head of
the Lakes (University of Minnesota), Maine State, South Carolina All State,
Florida Space Coast, and JazzBrevard Jazz Festivals.
